also unwelcome: the fact that those unfurlable ads don't have a toggle on them saying "okay, this person just unfurled it, it won't unfurl again." nope. pass over it by accident, or need to pass over it to get to something else: *unfurlunfurlunfurl* ridiculous.

Have you seen The Third Man? I wouldn't suggest trying to write a screen adaptation of Incompetence before doing so, if not. And use that as your visual and storytelling cues - since the book is so hugely inspired by it, it would make sense to make the film explicitly so, as well (and certainly, at the very least, use the same narrative style). You could have a bit of fun with that, in fact.

But yes. Either way, it definitely needs to go the noir route - that's how the book's written, and it'd be a shame to lose that flavour.

[...] So after months of work, the script for Jump Leads #10: The Voyage Home is more or less finished. It probably still need a little polishing, but the first collaboration between all four of the Jump Leads writers has been finished. The first Jump Leads script to have more than one writer work on it. The first… oh, I can do this all day. The point is that this script is done, and I feel like a weight has been taken off of my shoulders. This is the absolute closest we’ve come to the wire. Usually the next two or three stories have already been written up by the time the issue you’re reading is on the website, but as I mentioned at the end of last year, I decided to throw out the next two years’ worth of scripts to take the story in a new directi....
I agree with much. However there's a reality with the $30 approach that needs to be recognized. Some people, (me, for instance), would like confirmation of the worth of something before putting down the cash. As a for-instance, I used the comicpress software to set up my site for free. And when I saw that "it was good" I paid for it via the donation button. But would I have paid beforehand? Maybe and maybe not. If the paywall precludes people from assessing whether the articles are "worth it" then it has engendered a bit of a problem. After all, one can buy the "making a living from webcomics" book by the three quarter pixel group and have a LOT of how-to articles ready to hand. Demonstrating that there's value beyond this needs to happen, especially as at least one of the group has commented that there's really nothing more to say on the subject.

Just my 4 ha-pennies.
